JOINING THE FESTIVITIES AT VINITALY 2022

Vinitaly 2022 highlight

Though Vinitaly 2022 now seems like a thing of the past, we have so many fantastic memories of Verona’s annual four-day wine extravaganza. For the Italian Wine Podcast team, the fun actually started on 1 April with 5StarWines and Wines Without Walls, three-days of blind tastings, immediately followed by Vinitaly International Academy, the flagship Italian wine certification course, followed by Opera Wine, the glamourous premiere gala tasting, before Vinitaly finally kicked off on 10 April. Italian Wine Podcast was there the whole time, discovering new potential guests and recording along the way amazing sessions such as Professore Scienza’s special lectures, “Science And Its Prejudices: What Are The Consequences For Viticulture?”, as well as “The Denominations Of Origin Of Italian Wine, Protecting The Producer And The Consumer.” At Vinitaly itself the IWP team was on the ground in Pavilion Six, alongside producers from Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. We took the opportunity to promote the show and chat with listeners face-to-face, while also sharing the work of our colleagues, the Italian Wine Academy, Mamma Jumbo Shrimp and Italian Wine Books. For the Italian Wine Podcast team one of the highlights of the entire ‘marathon’ was the Iconic Women in Italian Wine event. Hosted by Stevie Kim, Monica Larner of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and Alison Napjus of Wine Spectator, this event saw competing female journalists sharing a stage for the first time ever, enabling seven iconic Italian women to tell the stories of their wineries. You can catch up with this unmissable event in our new podcast series on iconic wine, starting with Episode 876.

And don’t worry if Vinitaly passed you by altogether this year – we’ve got a special edition recap (episode 877) to give you the full lowdown on everything that took place during the two-week wine marathon!
