What's Barolo wine?

Barolo is considered one of Italy’s greatest wines because of its structure, longevity, and deep connection to the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Often referred to as the “King of Wines,” Barolo is produced under strict DOCG regulations that preserve quality and authenticity. Its global reputation has grown thanks to consistent craftsmanship, strong producer identity, and international demand for age-worthy red wines that reflect terroir.

What grape is used for Barolo?

Barolo is made exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape, an indigenous Piedmont variety known for its high acidity, firm tannins, and remarkable aging potential. Nebbiolo develops complex aromas of rose, tar, red fruit, and spice over time, which is why Barolo wines are often cellared for many years before reaching their full expression. Strict production regulations ensure that only 100% Nebbiolo is used in Barolo DOCG wines, reinforcing authenticity and quality standards.

What is a wine consortium?

A wine consortium is an official organization that protects and promotes a specific appellation or group of appellations. In Piedmont, the consortium ensures that wines like Barolo meet production rules, quality standards, and labeling requirements, while also coordinating marketing efforts worldwide.
