Festive fun in the office took a new turn this year! Diving into all the multi-cultural and multi-generational diversity that makes up our team, we took a look at everybody’s Christmas traditions. The 3 Things About Your Christmas questions were 1. Favourite movie, 2. Favourite food, 3. Favourite wine. Hilarious results included a huge range of films, some international food Stevie never heard of and, of course, our two favourite Russian women both chose caviar as their Christmas dish of choice.
We divvied up the crew by country and started with the native Italians. No surprise that our Gen Zs were drinking sweet sparkling Moscato d’Asti and light bodied white Soave while they ate their ice cream and risotto. Gen Y showcased their various personalities, choosing Alta Langhe sparkling, Prosecco and an outlier from Andrea – Trentino DOC Vino Santo, an intense, floral sweet wine made with native white grape Nosiola. Simone was our only Italian Gen X and he demonstrated his sophistication with the choice of Franciacorta to pair with his pumpkin tortelli.
Our two Elenas gave us “from Russia with love,” backing up their beloved caviar with Trento DOC sparkling and Verdicchio as their wines of choice. Famously dour Scotsman Richard dialled down our Christmas cheer by selecting tragic film Dr. Zhivago, accompanied by a left-over roast beef sandwich and Lambrusco, but at least he made Stevie laugh. Representing the USA in the traditional ugly Christmas sweater, Cynthia went with a decidedly specific classic method Gran Cuvée Salamino Lambrusco.
Looking back, the big question is why didn’t we ask Stevie her 3 Things About Her Christmas! Perhaps we’ll never know……..
