Turin, 27-28 January –Team IWP trekked to Turin for Grandi Langhe e il Piemonte del vino 2025 in their new role as official Media Partner. The two-day event featured over 500 producers from across the entire region, extending the event beyond the traditional realm of the Langhe. Held within the striking architecture of the Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR), wine professionals, international press, buyers, importers and wine lovers converged from around the world to sample new vintage releases of DOC and DOCG wines.
A Futuristic Venue
Originally a 19th century repair workshop for railway vehicles, the OGR is now an ultra-cool, sustainable cultural space. Its vast rooms and hi-tech facilities were the backdrop for the new vintage previews of Piedmont’s DOC and DOCG wines. With an added tasting room dedicated to the press, this event proved itself as one of the year’s most significant gatherings for Piedmont wines.
Why Media Partnership?
Italian Wine Podcast took on the role of Media Partner for the event, aiming to introduce and decode Grandi Langhe e il Piemonte del vino for its worldwide audience, by interviewing key players among producers, experts, Italian Wine Ambassadors and others from the broadly varied field ofinternational attendees. Stevie Kim, Founder of IWP, explained, “Wine events are not only for tasting wines. We ask the questions and taste the wines that will give our audience the best fly-on-the-wall overview of the entire event.”
Over the course of two days, members of the IWP squad interviewed key attendees. Alberto Cirio, President of the Region of Piemonte, shared his vision for Turin and the ongoinggrowth and development of the Grandi Langhe e il Piemonte del vino event. Renowned wine writers Jeff Porter and Michaela Morris offered global perspectives and their favorite pours. Members of the Italian Wine Ambassador community who had travelled from around the globe to attend the eventgave us their perceptions of Piedmont’s importance in their markets. Sergio Germano, President of Consorzio Barolo and Barbaresco, emphasized the region’s commitment to quality and heritage. Iconic producers such as Stefano Chiarlo and Elisa Semino (La Colombera) revealed the ethos behind their winemaking philosophies. We gathered insights and opinions on “best in show” wines, emerging trends and prospects for Piedmont wines in the international market.
